A few moments ago a delivery driver, with an attitude, handed me a package while making an off hand statement about the unstable shape of our world. “I’m sorry, I’m feeling political today” he said.
I took a sip of my coffee and answered “This morning the sun came up, the tips of the oak, the pine cones in the white pine and the whole woods was lit up while the moon was setting. I took pictures of this absolutely beautiful morning. The sun will come up again for all our tomorrows”.
He paused, looked at the trees and the woods for quite a long moment while he seemed to reset and relax while answering… “and there is only one God and he’s in charge”. I said “always. you have a great day”

I want to encourage you to reset if you need to. Above all, be in a place with the Lord Jesus to share his light while engaging those you meet in our turbulent times. Sometimes it just takes a small nudge to help those around us to reset.
“Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” Philippians 4:8

Thanks, Gary. I am in need of a reset today. Your picture with the moon is my favorite. Blessings.

It’s my favorite as well David. Sometimes our reset needs may be more subtle than at other times…possibly when everything seems ok in our world. I got up early before daylight knowing I needed something.

I get up at 5:15 seven days a week to enjoy the quietness of the morning with God; my grandmother used to say, “If the birds wake up before you do it’s a shame.” I’m sure she was quoting someone else, but it always stuck with me. Like you, I am an outdoors person.

That’s awesome David. The fruits of such a discipline is a more intimate time and relationship with our savior. The world has not started clamoring for our attention yet. Whispers are heard.

Loved this post Gary and I loved your use of the word “reset”. There is order throughout God’s handiwork and your pictures are a beautiful reminder of that. Thank you and blessings!

Thanks Bruce, It’s been a joy to live in the middle of nowhere. God brings photo opportunities right to my back deck and then brings someone in a hurry who needs very few words to (re)set his mind on things above. I sense I need a reset every morning(even if it’s just to listen more and talk less…lol).

Awesome post! Fantastic photos! We do need to reach out and help others in these turbulent times to ‘reset’, and keep things in perspective. Great passage from scripture!

Thanks Linda. I believe the early morning with the Lord truly prepares us to be a useable instrument in other lives. It also allows Christ who lives in us to be visible outwardly.

I could tell he was in a hurry, on the job, rushed and so on. A few words for redirection and I like to think Jesus living and speaking into his heart through me. a coffee drinking, prayed up vessel?
