When The Dust Settles

Aug 2 sun eml

My thoughts as we put the urn of Dad’s ashes into the ground a few days ago…

There is nothing worse, absolutely nothing worse than waking up in eternity and finding out you were wrong.

John 14:6 : Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

John 10:9 I am the gate. If anyone enters through Me, he will be saved. He will come in and go out and find pasture.

John 11:25: Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me will live, even though he dies.

I don’t know about you but I’m putting all my marbles on the one, the only one who didn’t stay dead.

Please don’t die forever!

  1. Wow, Gary. The depth of this truth is eternal. And wow also because this is the planned subject of my post today or maybe tomorrow. Not sure which yet. But it is always amazing to see the Holy Spirit working through the same message to those messengers He chooses to give the same message to carry at the same time! Blessings my friend, as your message today goes forth into the whole world, and never returning to Him empty.

    1. Wow indeed G.W. The depth is eternal but us humans tend to live on the surface where the truth is painted an odd color, spit upon and discarded as old and fabled.
I truly admire how you dust it off, clean it up and present the same uncompromising Truth in word and person

  2. In college there was a song we sang at folk masses and it often comes back to me. It is based on the passage from John 11:25. “I am the resurrection and the life, he who believes in me will never die.” We were young kids back then with so much ahead of us. We would break bread together and sing that song, with someone who could play a guitar. Usually, these services were in the evening…the time of day for the setting of the sun, and the close of the day’s busy moments. I was young then, but it is a song for all ages. It brought me such a sense of peace to be with people who gathered together to celebrate their love of our Lord, Jesus Christ. I was always happy to see a new face…someone who dropped in to see what was going on and they heard the music. This is our story and this is our song…we reach out and welcome each new person as they become a part of our love story. Jesus came for all the lost sheep and every single one matters to Him. That is why the story brings us to tears…there is no greater love than His for us, His sheep.

    1. Thanks for memory lane (for me too) Linda, I’m quite sure I sang the same song in our youth group, guitars, praying, sharing, bonfires and all! You nailed it…No matter what age, Jesus Christ, HIs love and message never changes. Our hope is in Him.
